Head of the company / commercial and litigation departments, Walton qualified in 1979 with a major London law firm.
In 1983 he moved to a leading West End firm specialising in intellectual property litigation for the record and film industries becoming a partner later that year. In 1984 he joined the Anti-Piracy Unit for the British Phonographic Industry and the following year set up with Philip Hamilton what became Hamilton Downing Quinn.
Now mainly dealing with company / commercial matters including mergers and acquisitions of non-listed corporate clients and international litigation, Walton also acts in international arbitrations. He has a wide knowledge of international and sovereign debt negotiation, and acts for several specialist sovereign and commerical investments funds. Walton is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and a non-executive director of a number of client companies.
